About Rev. Peter and Matilda Burger Peter and Matilda Burger serve as Assistant Pastors with duties in the area of spiritual formation and foundations of faith. Peter is also an instructor at Southern California Christian College. The Burgers are graduates of the Charter Class of Rhema Bible Training Center in Johannesburg, South Africa and served as directors of Kenneth Copeland Ministries in that nation. Peter holds Bachelor of Biblical Studies and Master of Ministry degrees from SCCC. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Religion from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Peter is ordained by Rhema Bible Church in Johannesburg, South Africa, and International Church of the Word of Faith in Fort Worth, TX. Peter and Matilda have been married 49 years; have four children and two grandchildren. They reside in Rancho Mirage, CA.
Deci Connelly joined the VCC staff as Assistant Pastor in 2003 after a 20 year career in the hotel industry. Her current areas of responsibility include Community Awareness, Women's Ministry, Outreach Ministry (including Bread of Life, Assisted Living Ministries, and Missions) and she serves as Registrar for Southern California Christian College. In addition, she is a frequent speaker at women’s retreats and conferences, small groups and Bible studies. She developed the Becoming One Marriage Preparation series used in several west coast churches. Deci is a graduate of VCC’s Ministry and Leadership Training Program and holds Bachelor of Biblical Studies and Master of Ministry degrees from SCCC. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Religion from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. She is licensed and ordained by Victory Christian Ministerial Association. She and her husband, Todd, have been married 17 years and have been members of VCC since 1994. They make their home in La Quinta, CA.
About Rev. David and Angela Danzy As Assistant Pastors and Acting Directors of Music and Creative Arts, the Danzys oversee all aspects of music and drama including worship and dance teams, choir and sound/video production. As an accomplished vocalist, stage and studio musician, David has more than 25 years experience in music composition, arranging and leading worship. Angie has an extensive music background in songwriting, leading praise and worship, and serves as both an instrumentalist and vocalist. The Danzys met at World Harvest Bible College in Columbus, Ohio, where they both completed the two year program and graduated with a certificate in General Bible. David received his licensure from the World Harvest Church Ministerial Fellowship in Columbus, Ohio and was ordained through Victory Christian Ministerial Association in Rancho Mirage, California. The Danzys have been married 12 years and have one son, David, Jr. and one daughter, Kirsten. They make their home in Indio, CA.
Laura Newman joined the VCC staff as Acting Youth Pastor in the Summer of 2008. She currently oversees all aspects of //oneighty.youth and Victory Kids (Ages 0 thru 18). Laura has dedicated her life to teens as a Youth Pastor for more than 15 years. In addition, she owns her own video production company and is experienced in all aspects of video technology. She received her Bachelor of Biblical Studies from Southern California Christian College and makes her home in Palm Springs, CA.
About Revs. Marcus and LaTerra Ruffin As Assistant Pastors, Marcus and LaTerra Ruffin oversee Congregational Care Ministry including Altar Care, Biblical Encouragement, Hospital Ministry, Hospitality, Adopt a Family Christmas program and Water Baptism. In addition, the Ruffins teach the New Members Class and oversee new member orientation. Originally from North Carolina and Pennsylvania respectively, the Ruffins met while attending Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK, where they completed their graduate studies. Marcus holds dual Masters degrees in Christian Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy while LaTerra holds a Master of Divinity degree. Marcus has received his California state licensure for marriage and family therapy (LMFT #45224). The Ruffins are licensed and ordained by Victory Christian Ministerial Association and are instructors at Southern California Christian College. Marcus and LaTerra have been married 7 years; have miracle twins, King Marcus Oral and Queen-Majesty Acacia, and make their home in Indio, CA.
