About Congregational Care Ministry

The Congregational Care Ministry provides, models and empowers “Christ in flesh” care through personal contact with members of the VCC family and the community at large.  As the heart and hands for those newly birthed into the Kingdom of God, experiencing the painful loss of a loved one or the joyous birth of a child, this compassionate ministry demonstrates God’s love, peace and presence through life’s many stages. “Christ in us, the hope of glory” can be experienced in the following forms and beyond:

Baby Dedication and Water Baptism
Baby Dedication and Water Baptism brings the VCC family together to invoke God’s blessing upon our babies and young children and to witness the joy of Christ’s model through Water Baptism for children and adults who have accepted Jesus as Lord!

Benevolence
The Bread of Life Food Pantry provides non-perishable food items to our church family members who find themselves in temporary need of assistance.

Biblical Encouragement
This ministry allows professionally trained and lay counselors to walk alongside individuals, couples or families in need of short term encouragement. Imploring the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, these care-givers accurately and carefully magnify/marry God’s Word with human responsibility. Pre-engagement and Pre-Marital Counsel are also offered through this ministry.

Funeral/Memorial Planning
Our caring, experienced team will assist with service planning as well as provide comfort to families in grief.

Hospital Ministry
This ministry provides several “touches” to buttress the healing journey of our members including visits, calls, faith-filled prayer, anointing with oil, healing tapes/books/CD’s and communion.

Hospitality Team
This ministry consists of compassionate, caring individuals who deliver meals, baskets, and ultimately share God’s love with members welcoming a new baby, recovering from recent surgery or homebound persons.  This team also prepares and serves bereavement repasts.

Membership Class
This quarterly gathering shares VCC’s history, mission and vision to those making VCC their church home.  The luncheon seminar (immediately following the 11:00am service on Sundays) allows new members to meet the Pastoral team, tour the campus and get acquainted with the ministry. The Spiritual Gifts Assessment identifies and highlights the God-given skills of each individual allowing each to find their place in the local body.

Prayer Room
The Prayer Room embraces those making an initial decision for Christ as well as those renewing their faith commitment and “finding their way home…again.”  In addition to prayer and distributing foundational materials, Congregational Care administers immediate follow-up calls, letters and facilitates the connection to other VCC ministries.

Wedding Planning
We enjoy serving couples who plan to use VCC’s facilities and/or Pastoral Staff for their wedding ceremony.  Couples are strongly encouraged to allot nine months to one year for securing facilities, staff and, more importantly, pre-marital counsel.
